Carbonaceous Chondrite

 

In early 1969, over twotons of meteorites fell near the twon of Allende, Mexico. Carbonaceous chondrites are the most primitive chondrites, having undergone the least amount of mixing and remelting since the formation of the solar systems. Allende is a CV3 subtype, making up 2.2% of all falls, showing large chrondrules and a fine grain sillicate structure. Allende has yielded abundant information concerning the conditions prevailing when our solar system was forming.
