1715 Spanish Treasure Fleet in the vicinity of Fort Pierce, Florida
 
The Spanish Plate Fleet consisted of eleven ships under the join command of Captain General Juan Esteban de Ubila and Don Antonio de Echeverz. The fleet left Havana on july 27, 1715 bound for Spain. On the night of July 30th, while following the coast of Florida, they encountered a terrible hurricane. Ten of the eleven ships were pounded to death on the Florida reefs. more than 1000 men and about 15,000,000 in treasure were lost in this most terrible disaster.
