Radioactive "Glow in the Dark" Jurassic Dinosaur Bones
Age 156 - 146 Million Years Old
Discovered: Utah, Morisson Formation
Utah boasts North America's most significant reservoirs of radioactive uranium ore. Through the fossilization process, natural uranium becomes intertwined with other minerals at the atomic level, substituting the bone structure with these minerals. As a result, the bones become radioactive and exhibit a glow under specific shortwave UV light. Despite elevated radiation levels compared to the norm, they remain well within safe limits for human exposure.
