Class: Enstatite Chondrite (EL6/7), possibly (EL3)
Found: 2005
Total Known Weight: Several Tons
Notes: This material is very likely paired with the AL Haggounia (001) lakebed find. This is a very ancient (considered a "fossil meteroite" by some) and large fall (its strewn field is nearly 40km long). Cut pieces of this material show few, if any chondrules so this has been classified as EL6/7 by some and as an achondrite (aubrite) by others. Detailed analysis though shows the presence of K-Bearing glass and a non re-crystallized matric, suggestingthat this meteroite may really be an unequilibrated (type 3) El chondrite. Enstatite chondrites are very rare in the known meteorite collections but they may have been relatively common in the inner part of the early solar system. If one looks at the Earth as whole and compares it to varius meteorite types, it turns out that the Earth's composition most closely matches that of enstatite chondrites.
